Whichever aircraft is airborne when you load the page is the one you get. Real callsign, real route, real altitude. Not a loop, not a recording.
The data is real
Live positions
Aircraft come from adsb.lol, the same live ADS-B feed plane-spotters use.
Dead reckoning
Between updates, position is carried forward from the aircraft's last known heading and speed. Nothing is interpolated toward a scripted path.
The real sun
Sun position is computed from the time of day and the aircraft's own coordinates, not art-directed.

Cruise is the easy half. The half everyone actually remembers is the last two minutes, when the ground stops being a texture and turns into streets you could name.
Below 2,000 m the view switches to photorealistic 3D terrain: the real city, the real airport, the runway you are lined up with.
It is not built yet. It has been prototyped and measured, which is how I know approaches over dense city come out sharp at 200–300 m, and approaches over open water do not. That gap is the work.
It will be paid. Photorealistic tiles cost real money every time someone flies one, so this part has to carry its own weight. Cruise stays free, and stays free for good.
